It can be said that Hungarian Institute was founded in 1923 with the ordinance from the Hungarian Minister of Culture to establish the Hungarian Research Institute in Tartu. Due to World War II it faded away to come back to independent Estonia in 1992 as a branch office of the Hungarian Cultural Center in Helsinki. From 22 February 2002 the Hungarian Institute in Estonia is an independent cultural institute and today there are 19 institutes all over the world.

We focus on organizing cultural and social events such as exhibitions, concerts, film clubs etc. in order to introduce Hungarian culture and traditions in Estonia.
